Motion City Soundtrack go back to 2008 in “Stop Talking” video

Earlier this week, Motion City Soundtrack returned with their first new song, “Stop Talking,” in a decade. The release appears in the coming-of-age film Dìdi (弟弟), which is set in 2008 and unexpectedly engineered the band’s comeback, and now the Minnesota pop-punk veterans are winding back with its video. Existing within the same world as the movie, the visual features grainy footage of the Dìdi (弟弟) actors goofing off with dolls — each boasting a picture of the members taped to their faces — from flinging them off buildings to spraying them with ketchup.

“Nostalgia in the era of internet rules,” bandleader Justin Pierre says. “A clip of Sean Wang and Carlos López Estrada, producer of the film Dìdi (弟弟), rocking out during our set at When We Were Young festival last year caused a domino effect, resulting in us releasing our first new song in nearly 10 years. We recorded at Steve Albini’s legendary Electrical Audio studio with Sean O’Keefe in the producer seat. He recorded one of our first efforts a thousand years ago, pre-I Am the Movie, and it was incredible to get to work with him again.”
