We’re not sure if Swiss quartet Mandroïd of Krypton‘s latest single, “The Waltz of Death,” is an actual 3/4-time waltz—though by the thrashing involved, we doubt it—but it definitely has an old-school death ’n’ roll vibe. It’s three minutes of buzzy riffs, aggro punk anarchy and a thud-wallop rhythm crush. Mandroïd of Krypton—Gabriel F. (vocals/guitar), Romain G.(drums), Sylvain C. (guitar), Tim R.C. (bass)—rage through the track with an intensity that feels likely to derail at any moment.
Cosmic Sarcophagus is MOK’s third full-length and was recorded by the band and mixed by Gabriel F. It was mastered by Nostromo bassist Lad A. at Caduceus Studios, and is set for release digitally and on limited edition (250 copies) silver vinyl on November 29 via MTAF Records. A quote from the band regarding its new single:
“In the unrelenting technological race for profit that keeps us trapped in a morbid cycle, this track is one of the most direct and thrash-driven songs on the album, with a few black metal twists thrown in. It’s the perfect opener for our live shows.”
