My Chemical Romance Issue Statement On The Passing Of Their Ex-Drummer Bob Bryar

Multi-platinum emo rock kings My Chemical Romance have issued a new statement regarding last month’s passing of their former drummer Bob Bryar. Bryar performed with the group from 2004 to 2010, including handling the drums on their 4x multi-platinum hit 2006 album “The Black Parade“.

The 44-year-old Bryar was said to have been found deceased at his Tennessee residence on Tuesday, November 26th. He was last reported seen on November 04th. Police did not expect any foul play, and noted that Bryar‘s body was in an advanced state of decomposition upon discovery, with none of his belongings disturbed or missing. In a statement issued today, December 02nd, My Chemical Romance offered the following:

“It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to Bob Bryar, our former bandmate and an important part of the history of My Chemical Romance.

We send our deepest condolences to his friends and family at this time.
May he rest in peace.”

If the statement comes off as a bit muted, Bryar and the band had a complicated relationship that included publicized differences in opinion and interpersonal issues. Some of those exchanges bitterly played out on social media following his departure and remain archived by the band’s fan communities. Divisive opinions expressed on social media by Bryar seemingly further drove a wedge between the two parties.

In the years that followed his time in My Chemical Romance, Bryar remained open on about his struggles with mental health and finding peace of mind, including this lengthy public statement which he shared roughly a year ago.
