Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross to Score New Game Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet

It’s been heavily documented in the past that we metalheads are fucking nerds. We all have our things that we get crazy over and for many of us (myself included) it’s video games. Give me a fun game with a killer soundtrack and I can kill an entire day without even thinking about it.

Last night, during this year’s The Game Awards, an announcement was made that once again melded the gaming and metal worlds as one, as it was revealed that the incredibly prolific duo of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross were working on a video game soundtrack. But it wasn’t for any ordinary game, no — they’re handling the score for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, the new game from the creator of The Last of Us and Naughty Dog Studios.

The game’s reveal was the final one of the night, showcasing a retro-futuristic open world game that honestly looks like it’s going to be boss as fuck. Directed by Neil Druckmann, the game is described as such:

“Set thousands of years in the future, Intergalactic puts players into the role of Jordan A. Mun, a dangerous bounty hunter who ends up stranded on Sempiria – a distant planet whose communication with the outside universe went dark hundreds of years ago. Jordan will have to use all her skills and wits if she hopes to be the first person in over 600 years to leave its orbit.”

As it stands, the game is currently under development for the PlayStation 5 and has been an active project at Naughty Dog since 2020. Who knows when it’s coming out, though?
