Met Gala 2025 Dress Code Announced by Co-Chairs ASAP Rocky, Pharrell

The 2025 Met Gala now has a dress code. About four months after first revealing that this year’s theme will be “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” co-chairs A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, Colman Domingo and Lewis Hamilton announced Tuesday (Feb. 4) that the accompanying guideline for how guests should arrive on the first Monday in May will be “Tailored for You.”

According to Vogue‘s Instagram post sharing the news, “Tailored for You” has a menswear focus and is “purposefully designed to provide guidance and invite creative interpretation.” This year’s gala will accompany an exhibit titled “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” which is set to explore “the role of sartorial style in forming Black identities, focusing on the emergence, significance and proliferation of the Black dandy” — all things attendees on Anna Wintour’s top-secret guest list can take inspiration from when planning their outfits for the biggest fashion event of the year.

Also on Tuesday, the co-chairs — plus honorary chair Lebron James — announced the names on the Met’s 2025 costume institute benefit host committee. Musicians Usher, Doechii, André 3000, Janelle Monáe and Tyla are all on board, as are stars such as Simone Biles, Ayo Edebiri, Regina King, Angel Reese and more.

This year’s Met Gala will take place May 5 at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. The event’s theme and co-chairs were first announced in October, with Vogue also revealing at the time that Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book, Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, had served as the inspiration for this year’s focus.

Rocky, Williams, Domingo, Hamilton and James make up the first co-chair lineup of all Black men. Last year, Bad Bunny, Jennifer Lopez, Zendaya and Chris Hemsworth piloted the event, the theme of which was “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” with a “Garden of Time” dress code.
