Bassist Chris Beattie’s No Longer in Hatebreed, Shadows Fall’s Matt Bachand is Filling In

A major shakeup’s taking place within the Hatebreed camp, as it seems founding bassist Chris Beattie’s been ousted from the band. We only know this because of a tersely worded Instagram post on the band’s official page (that has its comments shut off, by the way). As it stands, the band said Shadows Fall guitarist Matt Bachand will stand in for Beattie “for the foreseeable future,” but Beattie himself has since shed a little more light on the situation.

In a post on his Instagram page made less than an hour ago, Beattie said he was “doing fine” and that he appreciated all the concern. Still, he said he wasn’t able to really go into details as to why he was let go, but hinted that there may be repercussions for the band’s decision. Whether those repercussions are legal in nature or not, we don’t know at the moment.

“I just want to take the time to let everyone know that I am doing just fine and I sincerely appreciate everyone who has reached out.”

“I was under the impression a joint announcement would be agreed upon in advance, but since that was not the case I wanted to address your concerns in my own post. At this time I am unable to discuss the specifics surrounding my departure from Hatebreed on November 13, 2024. However, I want to clarify that the decision to leave the band was not mine and that my departure was uncalled for and based on misleading and wrongful statements that will be subject to future actions.”

So he’s been out of the band since November and we’re only hearing about it now. That’s kinda wild. Still, with the radio silence coming from Hatebreed and their very vocal frontman Jamey Jasta, it’s certainly interesting to see how this whole thing’s unfolding right now.
