Over the weekend, original The Dillinger Escape Plan vocalist Dimitri Minakakis posted an Instagram story that had fans freaking the fuck out. It didn’t have much context to it, but the location it was taken and the sounds it featured made fans speculate that it could only mean one thing: new music with Minakakis behind the mic.
That conclusion was drawn since the clip in question featured a microphone on a stand in what obviously looks like a studio. In the background, some weird discordant sounds can be heard while a little sticker featuring that iconic The Dillinger Escape Plan logo flashed in the corner. It’s understandable why people would think it means new music.
Sure, it could just be that Minakakis is in the studio rehearsing for the next bout of shows the band has in store, but wouldn’t it be so much cooler if we all got new Dillinger in the year of our lord 2025 or 2026? One can only hope…
Sure, the band called it quits back in December 2017, but that was the iteration of the band that featured Greg Puciato on vocals. With Puciato now busy with other projects and whatnot, it makes sense the band that’s been celebrating 25 years of Calculating Infinity would maybe get in the studio to see what else they’ve got in the tank.
