Bill Burr Says Nirvana Member Has ‘Gone Bald’

In a historic convergence of grunge legacy and contemporary artistry, the surviving members of Nirvana reunited with Post Malone for a powerful rendition of “Smells Like Teen Spirit” during “SNL50: The Homecoming Concert.” The event, held on February 14, 2025, at New York’s Radio City Music Hall, commemorated the 50th anniversary of “Saturday Night Live.”

Introduced by former SNL cast member Adam Sandler as “Post Nirvana,” the ensemble featured Dave Grohl on drums, Krist Novoselic on bass, Pat Smear on guitar, and Post Malone stepping into the role of lead vocalist and guitarist. The performance paid homage to Nirvana’s groundbreaking 1991 SNL debut, where they first unleashed “Smells Like Teen Spirit” to a national audience.

Post Malone, a self-professed Nirvana enthusiast, previously showcased his admiration through a 2020 livestream of Nirvana covers, earning accolades from both fans and the band’s original members. The SNL50 celebration also featured a diverse array of performances, including Miley Cyrus and Alabama Shakes’ Brittany Howard covering Queen’s “Crazy Little Thing Called Love,” and Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder delivering a rendition of Tom Petty’s “The Waiting.” These collaborations underscored the enduring influence of “Saturday Night Live” as a platform that unites varied musical genres and eras.
