Kesha recently revealed that she leaned on Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl and the band for support during the initial days in her career.
Kesha talks about support from Dave Grohl and Foo Fighters
During a recent interview with Elle, Kesha recalled her early days when she was still a rising artist. She said:
“When I was coming up, I wished there was some woman in pop music that I could have reached out to and talked to about stuff I was going through. I found more support from the rock boys – Foo Fighters, Dave Grohl, Pat Smear, and Alice Cooper were very real, and helped me talk through things. So now I try to reach out to artists, girls and women, and just offer my services of life experience.”
Kesha has always remained close to the Foos, and was a good friend of the late Taylor Hawkins. In 2022, she performed at both of Hawkins’ tribute shows in London and Los Angeles. On the tribute concerts’ official website, Kesha wrote a tribute to the drummer, saying:
“He was so funny and easy to talk to. I was playing a festival in Rio and we ended up having a late night hangout on the rooftop with my band and dancers till the sun came up. The Foo Fighters was his family, the guys were his brothers. The love and respect between these guys was palpable. He was so f***ing funny! His hair was always overly bleached to hell and his skin tanned from years in the California sun. He always looked ready for an outdoor adventure. He was always laughing.”
Grohl has certainly enjoyed a longstanding reputation as the ‘nicest guy in rock.’ However, that all changed last month when he publicly confessed he fathered a child ‘outside of my marriage’ of 21 years to his wife Jordyn Blum.
