A local cancer treatment center recently launched a nonprofit foundation, with the aid of a famous Michigan native.
BAMF Health has launched the Foundation for Medical Advancement and Breakthroughs, or FMAB, with a donation from the Kid Rock Foundation.
The donation comes after William R. Ritchie, Kid Rock’s father, came to BAMF Health in 2022 after a years-long battle with prostate cancer.
His family has said that even though the outcome was not what they hoped, their experience with BAMF Health was so positive, that they were moved to help others like William.
“I would like my foundation to be the first one to donate to this incredible foundation in my father’s memory,” said Robert Ritchie (Kid Rock). “As a family, we hope to spread the word about how BAMF Health is helping change the lives of those with cancer,” he added.
FMAB was created to support three initiatives, according to officials:
- Patient Access – Provide financial assistance to patients struggling with insurance coverage, co-pays, travel expenses, or other barriers to access.
- Education – Offer community education, student training programs, and workforce development opportunities to increase awareness of and advance the field of Theranostics.
- Research – Advance the development and use of radiopharmaceuticals and further precision medicine.
Donations made to FMAB will fund highly targeted initiatives and research efforts that lead to medical breakthroughs, officials from the nonprofit said.
