LIGHTS will return with her fifth album, PEP, this Friday (April 1). Ahead of the record, she told us 10 of her “lasts,” from seeing Letterkenny live to cooking some delicious veggie tacos.

THE LAST BOOK I READ…

It was a book about sexual confidence called Come As You Are. It’s a very empowering book. The song “Prodigal Daughter,” the first one that came out from [new album] PEP, is really about rediscovering sexuality after leaving the oppression of societal and religious expectation. I’m not religious, but I was raised a religious kid, and you have to shed all that and rediscover your ownership of self. A lot of the reading material that I’ve read over the pandemic has been really good. That’s one of them.

THE LAST MEAL I COOKED…

Veggie tacos. Very good.

THE LAST GIG I WENT TO…

Two nights ago, I went and saw this comedy show called Letterkenny in Seattle. Very funny, very Canadian humor. It’s amazing.

THE LAST SONG I LISTENED TO…

It was actually the first mix of a collab. I have a side project called LŪN — it’s bass music. It’s a complete blast. That’s all I can say.

THE LAST MOVIE I WATCHED…

Encanto. I saw it with my kid and my nieces. It was very cute.

THE LAST PLACE I WENT ON VACATION…

Over the holidays, we went to Mexico, and it was really cliche, but it was really amazing. First trip in a while.

THE LAST TEXT MESSAGE I SENT…

I thought this interview was for camera, so I texted my management, “I’m ready for my porno!”

THE LAST TIME I CRIED…

Usually it’s every day, but the last couple days? I haven’t. So probably three days ago.

THE LAST TIME I SAID “I LOVE YOU”…

Today to Rocket [my daughter], just before her hockey game this morning.

THE LAST THING I THINK ABOUT BEFORE FALLING ASLEEP…

I have to channel my mind because my mind is always thinking of a million things, and it tends to want to go to stressful places. So I always think about something creative because I really enjoy thinking about that. So last night I was thinking about a sketch that I want to do because I have really cool merch coming. I was brainstorming, and I never thought of anything because I fell asleep too fast.
