If a 21st-century night in the city had an official Gen Z playlist, Glosser’s “Angel Dust” would easily make the cut. As it happens, that’s exactly what the Washington, D.C., duo was going for.
“The song is a reflection of what it feels like—shimmering and thrilling, but also a little melancholic,” says Riley Fanning, the female half of a coed pairing that also includes Corbin Sheehan.
“Angel Dust” is the title track to a new four-song EP set for release November 15 on California’s If This Then label. It comes just nine months after Glosser’s debut album, Downer, and the combined body of work calls to mind the haunting, pulsing, danceable dream pop of Beach House and Phantogram.
“When we started working on production for Angel Dust, it was important to not take ourselves too seriously,” says Fanning. “We wanted to follow our whims and make something people could sing along with and dance to.”
Glosser shot the black-and-white video for “Angel Dust” themselves with an old camcorder. “We leaned into a sort of peripheral loneliness, having me surrounded by people but not really present,” says Fanning. “We had our friends in the video, so it was so much fun to shoot. We just told them to ignore the camera and have a party.”
We’re proud to premiere Glosser’s “Angel Dust” video.
