Jon Lindsay confides that the opening horn line and guitar riff to “Anti-Inflammatory” came to him out of nowhere. The song’s message, however, was more orchestrated and intentional.
“It’s about finding that one person who can help you calm down enough to mitigate the sea of insanity life tosses your way,” says Lindsay of the latest single from his upcoming LP, Big Stage (Daffin), available May 16. “The chorus looks at that fine line between love and dependency—and we’ve all been there.”
Moving between New York and Savannah, Ga., Lindsay is the longtime keyboardist for North Carolina musical eccentric Benji Hughes’ band. He’s also collaborated with Rhiannon Giddens, American Aquarium, Hiss Golden Messenger and other well-regarded Southern acts. “Anti-Inflammatory” finds the talented jack-of-all trades on the run—and happy to be there.
“Melodically and harmonically, there’s a lot going on—more twists and turns than any other track on the record,” says Lindsay. “But, to me, it still feels like a nice, compact little nugget of a classic single, even with that quick and wild bridge.”
We’re proud to premiere Jon Lindsay’s “Anti-Inflammatory.”
