True to type, Euro psych/pop enigma Leopardo swathes itself in the sort of well-orchestrated ambiguity that leaves you wanting more. This much we know:
• Leopardo began as a Romain Savary solo project almost a decade ago in Fribourg, a historic Swiss city seeped in medieval lore, where the inhabitants speak either German, French or both.
• They’re now a quintet celebrating the release of their fifth album, Side A/Side B (Dot Dash Sounds).
• Primary influences (of late) include Country Teasers, Mark E. Smith and Lou Reed.
• They’ll be touring the U.S. this summer.
• “Repetition” is the band’s latest single. “We had the first batch of songs already recorded for the album, but I wasn’t happy with it,” says Savary. “I felt we needed some new songs, so I wrote ‘Repetition.’ The song talks about repeating our problems and addictions. Side A, side B … again and again.”
Only slightly more illuminated, we’re proud to premiere Leopardo’s “Repetition.”
