In a recent interview with the Sunday Mirror, Nick Mason talked about the potential for a reunion between David Gilmour and Roger Waters. Mason thinks that while a reunion might seem unlikely due to their ongoing disputes, AI could offer a solution. He envisions an AI scenario where Gilmour and Waters could become friends again and collaborate, much like ABBA did.
“It would be fascinating to see what AI could do with new music. If you tried to run it as a sort of ‘Where did Pink Floyd go after?’ The thing to do would be to have an AI situation where David and Roger become friends again. We could be like ABBA by the time we’ve finished with it.”
Recently, a photo of Waters and Gilmour on a FaceTime call, shared by a fan page on Twitter, sparked speculation about a possible Pink Floyd reunion. The photo showed them appearing friendly, which led to rumors about new music or a tour. However, neither Gilmour nor Waters has officially confirmed any such plans.
Their relationship has been strained since Waters left the band in 1985 due to disagreements. The FaceTime photo surprised fans and raised hopes, but they still publicly disagree.
Gilmour had previously retweeted a post from the ‘Campaign Against Antisemitism’ about a documentary called ‘The Dark Side of Roger Waters,’ which accuses Waters of antisemitism. The tweet included inflammatory language and questioned Waters’ views.
Gilmour has criticized Waters for these allegations before, and his wife, Polly Samson, has also accused Waters of antisemitism, which Gilmour has supported. Waters has dismissed the documentary as propaganda and claims it misrepresents his views.
“‘Dirty kyke,’ ‘Jew food,’ ‘F*cking Jew.’ Is Roger Waters antisemitic? Watch ‘The Dark Side of Roger Waters’ now and decide for yourself.”
