On April 5, 2025, more than 500,000 people joined over 1,000 “Hands Off!” protests across the United States and abroad in a coordinated demonstration against President Donald Trump and his administration. The protests spanned all 50 states, from major urban centers to rural pro-Trump strongholds, making it one of the most widespread protest actions of the year.

Organized by progressive groups and grassroots coalitions, the protests were a direct response to recent sweeping federal budget cuts, including the cancellation of billions in healthcare funding, mass layoffs at the Department of Education, and the defunding of arts and cultural institutions.
