Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness may take on a darker tone than previous Marvel films, thanks to director Sam Raimi.

Raimi has been at the forefront of modern film adaptations of classic comic books, having worked on the Spider-Man trilogy back in the 2000s. However, with his previous experience in the horror realm, he could be adding a sinister touch to the new flick starring Benedict Cumberbatch.

Before stepping into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Raimi was the mastermind behind the cult-classic Evil Dead trilogy.

“We want it to be a Sam Raimi movie,” Marvel President Kevin Feige tells Empire. “We would give notes like, ‘This action is cool — you’re competing with Avengers and Spider-Man, no problem — but don’t forget the Sam Raimi parts.’ You will see just how Sam Raimi it is, in ways that will make fans of Evil Dead II very happy.”

Further proving this theory, the latest trailer for Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness also teased what appears to be a zombified version of Strange. You can check out the trailer for the film, which is out May 6, below.
