Joe Satriani was missing from Sammy Hagar’s latest show, and fans noticed. Sammy shared a video on Instagram showing the band having fun on their private jet, but Satriani wasn’t there. A fan asked, “Where’s Satch?” and Hagar replied, “He’s busy, Vic’s got it covered tonight,” referring to Vic Johnson, another guitarist in the band.
This raised some questions since Satriani’s absence comes after drummer Jason Bonham left the band earlier. Bonham had to leave in August due to his mother’s health issues and never returned. Sammy later explained that drummer Kenny Aronoff became a permanent member because he worked well with the band’s schedule and played with Joe Satriani full-time.
Sammy said, “Kenny’s one of the best drummers, and he did really well on this tour. He’s also always available when Joe is.” Sammy also mentioned it’s difficult to keep the band together with everyone’s other projects but that Aronoff’s schedule makes it easier to coordinate. Fans are now worried that Satriani might be leaving the band too. Some joked in the comments, saying, “Satch got snatched, apparently.”
Meanwhile, Jason Bonham is moving on with his own projects, including performing on the Rock Legends Cruise on February 13.
