State Champs announce new self-titled album

Alternative Press teamed up with State Champs for an exclusive eco blue vinyl variant of their new self-titled album, limited to 300 copies. Head to the AP Shop to snag yours.

Albany pop-punk lifers State Champs have announced their fifth album, which is self-titled and follows 2022’s Kings of the New Age. A self-titled album this far into a career always feels like a statement, and singer Derek DiScanio sheds some light on why now felt like the right time to release one: “We found our way, through the ups and downs within us, personally and as a band, and wanted to express that,” he says. “This is the right time to showcase it.” Bassist Ryan Scott Graham adds, “When we stepped back and looked at the songs, sonically and thematically, it’s a great vision of who we are. Every era of State Champs exists within this record.”

Produced by Anton DeLost (Mayday Parade, Hawthorne Heights, etc), the album arrives on Nov. 8 via Pure Noise, and two singles are out now. “Silver Cloud,” which comes with a video, is a bouncy pop-punk anthem that sounds like instant-classic State Champs, while “Too Late to Say” shows off the band’s more melancholic side. Check out both below.

State Champs are also gearing up for a headlining fall tour that features the stacked package of Knuckle Puck, Meet Me @ The Altar, and Daisy Grenade. You can find all dates for that tour below.
