In his first public sighting since retiring from Aerosmith, Steven Tyler was seen this past Tuesday (Dec. 3) in a parking garage in Beverly Hills holding what appears to be an ice pack to his chin and jaw.
Tyler’s sudden exit from the legendary band this past August came as a result of a persistent vocal cord injury he sustained last year. During what is now considered to be Aerosmith’s final concert at UBS Arena in Elmont, NY in September 2023, Tyler “sustained vocal cord damage that led to subsequent bleeding.”
In a statement announcing band’s retirement from touring in August 2024, Aerosmtih revealed that Tyler “spent months tirelessly working on getting’ his four-octave tenor pipes to where they were before his injury. We’ve seen him struggling despite having the best medical team by his side. Sadly, it is clear, that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible. We have made a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision – as a band of brothers – to retire from the touring stage.”
Currently, Tyler is gearing up for the sixth annual “Jam for Janie” – a Grammy Awards viewing party that will take place at the Hollywood Palladium on February 2 and will be hosted by Tiffany Haddish. With tickets and tables costing between $3K to $100K, all proceeds will be going to his charity Janie’s Fund, which provides resources to young women who have experienced abuse and neglect.
