A follower recently asked Sammy Hagar about Sammy’s Island plans under an Instagram video of the Best of All Worlds crew heading to Scottsdale, Arizona.
The former Van Halen frontman confirmed that the project was canceled for not being profitable enough, writing, “It’s true that organization didn’t get it. They don’t understand redheads hanging around having a good time and not spending enough time at the tables, gambling and losing their money. Sorry to say it, but that’s part of it.”
The announcement for Sammy’s Island came in early 2024. It was planned as a tropical-themed poolside destination at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. As per the announcement, it was set to launch on May 17th last year.
Hagar sounded quite excited about the project at the time. His comment read, “I gotta pinch myself! I’ve been dreaming about this island concept for many years now, wrote a song about it over a decade ago, and to see it coming together in of all places, the fabulous Palms Resort and Casino in Las Vegas the perfect fit for this little oasis. We’ve got big fun coming up this summer folks. Let the party begin.”
Sammy’s Island offered several extravagances from a poolside restaurant to live music events and DJ sets. The concept was designed as a mix of food, drinks, and live entertainment inspired by Hagar’s music and lifestyle, according to the official explanation.
The ex-Van Halen vocalist was just there last October. He celebrated his birthday at the resort with a live performance joined by Rick Springfield.
