They may no longer write new music, but Godsmack remain committed to getting on the road and playing “the hits”, as it were. Sure, they may be a shell of their former self, but what does that matter when you can spend your hard earned money to hear Sully Erna, bassist Robbie Merrill, and a couple fill-ins at guitar and drums play “Alive” and “Voodoo” for the umpteenth time.
This time around, the band announced the North American leg of their ‘The Rise of Rock World Tour’, with special guests Stone Temple Pilots and Dorothy serving as the run’s openers. The tour will kick off on May 10 in Bristow, Virginia, after the band performs on May 7 for Welcome to Rockville and May 9 for the classic MMRBQ in New Jersey. Things will come to a head on September 26 at Nampa, Idaho. Along the way, they’ll make stops across the U.S. and Canada, including Austin, Chicago, Denver, Phoenix, and Toronto.
Tickets will go on sale for the general public on Friday, February 6 at 10 a.m. local time. Citi cardmembers have access to a pre-sale for tickets through the Citi Entertainment Program that will start tomorrow, February 3 at 10 a.m. local time until February 6 at 9 a.m. local time.
