Could it be? No, it’s not possible, but, what if it is? What does it all mean? For now, these are the life questions that need to be answered if you’re a Linkin Park fan, because the mystery and intrigue around a post the band made on Saturday is palpable.
Seemingly out of fucking nowhere, Linkin Park shared probably the most boring (or, let’s just say it’s simple) looking countdown ever. The white text on the plain black background was just a digital clock ticking away, with absolutely no other context provided. Of course, being the nosey sons a’ bitches literally everyone on the internet is, the comments started poppin’ off with questions and conspiracies as to what the countdown could possibly mean.
Some commenters speculated the tick-tocking implies the announcement of a reunion featuring a new vocalist to replace take on the beloved Chester Bennington’s place in the band. Others think maybe it’s that, plus new tour dates or something. Clicking on the post takes you to the band’s website, which you would think would provide more information as to what the hell is going on. But, JUST KIDDING, because the entire site has been scrubbed to ONLY be that goddamn countdown.
Mike Shinoda teased earlier this month that he has “many exciting things planned” for us, and could this be that supposed outcome? The fact that we won’t know what it means until the numbers reach zero is the only amount of anxiety I am able to handle currently today, but good grief is this a doozy. What do y’all think the countdown means? It could only lead to greatness, because it has to. If it doesn’t, a hellfire of rage in the name of Chester will unleash itself onto the internet.
(Okay probably not but if that does happen I’ll be thoroughly entertained.)
