In a move that’s sure to piss off metal fans that enjoy watching big men bumpin’ meat, the WWE announced that they’ll be using a song featuring German electronicore/party metal band Electric Callboy for the theme music to this month’s ‘Bash In Berlin’. Not only that, but it’s the song that includes everyone’s favorite (and totally not irrationally hated) kawaii metal band Babymetal, titled “RATATATA”.
Are there better metal choices for a show set in Berlin? Absolutely. They could have chosen almost any song by Rammstein, Scorpions, Kreator, Accept, Blind Guardian… really the list goes on. But do I think this is an excellent choice for a younger audience that also gets people talking? You bet your ass it is. Noted metalhead Paul “Triple H” Levesque strikes again, ladies and gents.
For those that watch, you know that WWE has been seriously hitting its stride ever since creepy old man Vince McMahon left the company in disgrace. With former wrestlers running the show, it seems like the company is way more worker friendly and able to create some excellent story lines that fans of all generations can get behind. Couple that with the massive Netflix deal set to kick off at the start of 2025 and you’ve got one hell of an era going on.
The premium live event ‘Bash In Berlin’ is the first of its kind in Germany. As such, it has a pretty stacked card set up in the wake of ‘Summerslam,’ including matches featuring Gunther, Randy Orton, Kevin Owens, Cody Rhodes, Damian Priest, Rhea Ripley, and so many more.
Though this isn’t the first time a metal act has been featured in a WWE PLE, it’s definitely the oddest choice. Previous selections included songs by Motörhead, Code Orange, Limp Bizkit, even Metallica. You can catch ‘Bash In Berlin’ on Saturday, August 31 via Peacock or the WWE Network. If you’re in Germany, you can try to get tickets to attend in person at the Uber Arena in Berlin.
