While an exact cause of death has yet to be determined, health officials in the Bogota, Colombia area issued a statement overnight confirming that emergency services were dispatched to the hotel where Hawkins was staying at to attend to a patient complaining of ‘chest pain’. Responding EMTs conducted resuscitative measures upon arrival, but were unsuccessful in their attempts.
Taylor Hawkins, drummer and vocalist for multi-platinum alternative rock group the Foo Fighters, has passed away at the age of 50. A post shared by the band themselves tonight (March 25th) reads:
“The Foo Fighters family is devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of our beloved Taylor Hawkins. His musical spirit and infectious laughter will live on with all of us forever. Our hearts go out to his wife, children and family, and we ask that their privacy be treated with the utmost respect in this unimaginably difficult time.”
TMZ report that the band were in Colombia and were booked to play a gig in Briceño tonight.
