Godswounds‘ new album “Cheer Up Sunshine” will receive a February 28th release through Sonichimarea. The Aussie psych rock outfit count former Mr. Bungle drummer Danny Heifetz among their ranks and have pre-orders for the album available now through Bandcamp.
Unconventional instrumentation shows up throughout the record, which was co-produced by Toshi Kasai (Melvins, Big Business) and the band’s own Lachlan Kerr. In addition to sitar, mandolin and Sanshin courtesy of Kasai, the group have also implemented Nintendo Game Boy & Sega Mega Drive sound chips, among others, into their synth arsenal. Kerr summed up his thoughts on the record, stating
“I see this album as a celebration of the remarkable talent of Muel, Simeon, Sam, Paul, Danny, and, of course, Toshi, and what an honor it is to make music with them.”
