Brazilian melodic death metal quartet Hatefulmurder have been at it for more than a decade, though the original incarnation looked a little different. Back in 2009 they were fronted by Felipe Lameira and only guitarist Renan Campos from the current lineup was involved. Today, the band is fronted by Angélica Burns and the rhythm section is filled out by Felipe Modesto (bass) and Thomás Martin (drums). The band has released three full-lengths and a couple EPs since 2009. Today we’re premiering a new video for the track “Call Out Your Soul,” which is slated to appear on album number four sometime in 2024.
The video was directed by Igor Tinoco and is largely a fast-cut performance video—with lots of close-ups of Burns and her auburn mane—for the thrashy melodic DM rager. “Call Out Your Soul” was recorded at Family Mob and Kolera Studios. It was mixed and mastered by Celo Oliveira. You can presave it here.
Here’s what the band had to say about its latest single:
“‘Call Out Your Soul’ ended up being a consensus among the band and we believe it to be one of the strongest songs on this new album. It mixes heavy parts with more ambient passages, bringing a little of all the elements of the essence of the new album. Our influences run through death metal, thrash metal and modern metal. Each member of the band enjoys a little more of each style and ends up taking a little of their influences into the compositions.”
