90 Day Fiancé fans are confused about how Thaís became pregnant with Patrick’s baby when he was infertile. She reveals the truth on Instagram.
Thaís Ramone got candid about Patrick Mendes’ infertility after the couple revealed they were pregnant with their first baby during the 90 Day Fiancé season 9 Tell-All. Twenty-five-year-old Thaís hails from Montes Claros, Brazil. The professional model met 31-year-old Patrick, from Austin, who was in her country to meet his dad’s side of the family. Patrick went looking for a language teacher on a dating app, found reality TV star Thaís, and after multiple back and forth trips to Brazil, he got engaged to her eleven months later before bringing her to the U.S. on a K-1 visa to get married.

Thaís, who had kept her marriage plans with Patrick a secret from her father, Carlos, back home, was herself unsure of tying the knot with Patrick. Adding to her troubles was Patrick’s brother, John Mendes, and Patrick’s cheating history. During the Tell-All, however, Thaís revealed that Patrick had been sleeping with another woman eight months into their relationship. The conversation came up when Patrick accused Thaís of not telling him about her pregnancy. A year ago, Patrick was doing fertility tests because he had no sperm thanks to his performance drug use, which also ended his weightlifting career. Thaís wasn’t aware of Patrick’s issue until a year after they began dating. Thaís was upset about Patrick not being able to give her kids.

This is why Thaís was concerned when she saw a positive pregnancy test. She took six tests in secret and even got Patrick to get her a gynecologist appointment to confirm the same. Thaís confided in a female best friend instead of telling Patrick. Fans were confused about how Patrick actually got Thaís pregnant with his low sperm count. During a Q&A session on Instagram, a fan asked Thaís to explain everything about the infertility issue because they couldn’t “understand right in the show.” Thaís claimed fans “got it wrong.” At first, Thaís didn’t know Patrick was infertile. One day in Brazil, her period was late, but Patrick assured Thaís it wasn’t a pregnancy because “he thinks he does not have sperm.” At the same time, Thaís had been taking birth control pills for two years because she didn’t know about it.
According to Thaís, Patrick then “took the test and proved it.” The results showed that he didn’t really have sperm. This is when Thaís stopped taking birth control. Meanwhile, Patrick had started his treatment so that the couple could have a child when they “wanted a child.” After her wedding, Thaís found out she was pregnant. Thaís revealed she and Patrick were surprised as they didn’t know that the treatment would work “so fast.” In fact, they weren’t even sure that Patrick’s infertility treatment would work at all.
As revealed during their conversation with Thaís’ dad, Carlos, during the 90 Day Fiancé season 9 Tell-All, Patrick and Thaís are having a baby girl. Thaís was 16 weeks pregnant during the reunion, which was filmed in June, and is due in late November. Fans are excited to meet the newest 90 Day Fiancé cast member in the fall, but at the same time, they cannot seem to digest the fact that Patrick cheated on Thaís and showed no remorse when he was called out. There’s more to Patrick and Thaís’ storyline, especially owing to their language barrier, as far as fans can tell. But for now, they seem to be cheering the parents-to-be as they await the arrival of Patrick and Thaís’ little girl.
