Warning: This post contains MAJOR spoilers for Evil season 3Evil season 3 ending explained. Originally airing on CBS in season 1, Evil has made Paramount+ its new home over the last two seasons. Season 3 began by resolving the sexual tension between Kristen Bouchard and David Acosta, now a priest. The season also continued delving into the supernatural and psychological elements of the show, building to an explosive and shocking conclusion in its season 3 finale.
Evil season 3 ended on the most shocking cliffhanger. Just when Kristen thought the issue of her missing egg was resolved following the murder of Sarah, but the season 3 finale proved that things could get worse. Kristen traced her egg to a building belonging to DF, the corporate shares people were buying earlier in the season. While there, she was shocked to learn that her mother Sheryl worked there, and that Leland was having a child with someone — a child that was conceived using Kristen’s missing egg. Elsewhere in the episode, David received a cryptic message from the saint he now keeps seeing. What’s more, David used the mosquito net from Sister Andrea to literally keep the Kristen Demon at bay.

Evil has always been ominous, and season 3 ramped up the tension and stakes more than ever before, with the consequences of Leland and Sheryl’s actions surely reverberating into Evil season 4. With that in mind, here is the season 3 finale ending explained, including what the angel’s message might mean, and what’s going on with Leland’s plans for Lexis.
Leland’s Endgame & Connection To RMS Fertility Explained
While it’s hard to gauge the full extent of Leland’s nefarious plot (because it’s surely far more detailed than has been revealed thus far), his endgame plans are directly connected with the strange occurrences over at RMS Fertility. That includes Kristen’s missing egg, which Evil season 3 revealed Leland was responsible for buying and using to bring a child into the world. It seems RMS Fertility was ground zero in terms of expanding the demonic houses and ensuring succession. Leland being the father of Kristen’s child suggests the baby will be part demon, which connects to his plot to bring more evil to the world. Leland has been the liaison to the dark side, but fathering a child that is half Kristen’s positions him as a person of direct lineage to the demonic house he was grooming Lexis to control. This gives Leland more power in the grand scheme of things, as he’s now able to more heavily influence the potentially horrific outcome of the child’s future. It’s possible Leland realized — in his desperation — that if he could no longer have full access to Lexis, he would raise his own child so that his plans could finally be realized, and without interruption. It’s also possible Leland’s endgame is to raise the child as an antichrist of sorts, to serve as a physical embodiment of the enemy to the Catholic Church.
Will The Demon Baby Replace Leland’s Plans For Lexis?
Leland and Sheryl were trying to groom Lexis as a successor to one of the demonic houses, but they faced a few hurdles on their mission. Kristen realized Leland was visiting Lexis at school and stopped that from happening again. Meanwhile, Lexis and her sisters tried to stop Leland online by outing his predatory behavior. Now that a potential demon baby is on the way for Leland, it’s possible he will focus all of his attention on raising the child and less on Lexis. However, the arrival of the baby doesn’t mean his plans for Lexis are any less important. According to Evil creators Robert and Michelle King, Lexis is not out of the picture in terms of what Leland has in store. Their response regarding what’s ahead for Lexis suggests she’ll be an ambassador, a “John the Baptist” figure, who foretold of a powerful messiah that would come after him. Lexis will likely play a crucial role in the baby’s life.
David’s Message From The Angel Decoded
In Evil’s season 3 finale, David received a message from the saint who frequented his visions: “38 days, woe to Babylon.” In the bible, Babylon is a metaphor for the world’s evil. It was destroyed in Revelation 18, becoming a place for demons and other evil. Within the context of the supernatural series, it’s possible the angel’s message to David was foreshadowing the coming of Kristen’s baby. Perhaps the woman carrying her and Leland’s child is close to giving birth and, when she does, there is potential for true destruction and terrible acts to occur. This message could also allude to the meaning of Evil season 3’s finale having two disparate titles. The episode is called “The Demon of End,” which potentially indicates the coming child. At the end of the episode, however, the title transforms into “The Angel of Beginning,” which points to the push-pull war between the sides of good and evil. What’s more, just because there is a demon baby on the way and things seem more dire than ever, there is hope that things will get better and that David, Kristen, and Ben (who’s still a skeptic) will work hard to ensure it won’t go from bad to worse in season 4.

Why Andy Is Now Seeing Demons (Is He Brainwashed?)
Andy may have been returned home to Kristen and his daughters, but there is something off. He’s now seeing demons — be they visions or some sort of dream — in his house, as well as the demon baby Kristen previously dreamed about. Prior to his return, Andy didn’t have any connection to the demonic, but he was now witnessing them and sensing their presence. It’s possible that whatever Leland and Sheryl were dosing him with when he was imprisoned affected him. Like Sheryl, who also couldn’t see demons before she began working with Leland, Andy has been fundamentally changed. However, there is more to Andy’s state. He wasn’t just seeing demons. Andy’s behavior towards Sheryl was on much friendlier terms. They were interacting like old friends when viewers knew good and well how much the two disliked each other. It could be that Andy was brainwashed while he was held captive. The fact that he doesn’t remember anything that happened to him while locked up suggests that Sheryl and Leland were feeding him words and information that would alter his mental state and behavior, likely in a bid to keep him on their side even after he returned to his family. Andy has seen glimpses regarding his ordeal, and it’s possible he will uncover the truth of what happened in Evil season 4.
How Evil Season 3 Sets Up Season 4 & Rosemary’s Baby Comparisons
Evil’s overarching story is beginning to pull all its plot threads together. Season 3’s ending suggests Kristen and Leland will be forced to work together in some capacity because of the incredibly insidious actions of the latter. Kristen looking on in shock as Sheryl and his colleagues congratulate Leland on the baby hints at the anger and turmoil she will experience in Evil season 4. The entire situation draws comparisons to Rosemary’s Baby, which sees the titular character giving birth to a child who is believed to be the son of Satan. Regardless of this, Rosemary still cares for the baby, which mirrors Kristen doing the same in her dream. In addition, Grace surviving Leland’s attack in the Evil season 3 finale reveals that David is probably not done assisting her or the Entity. David’s closeness to Grace will possibly help him with Kristen’s situation, which could lead to him exorcising her home. David might also continue to doubt himself in relation to his faith and place in the church. Whatever happens, Evil season 4 has been set up to be the supernatural drama’s most horrifying and nuanced yet.
