High Potential: There Are Cops, and Then There Is Detective Karadec Captivating Us with His Signature Sizzling Smolder

When it comes to police procedurals, there’s an unwritten rule that you need at least one tall drink of water who spends his time brooding and taking everything too seriously.

For ABC‘s High Potential, that character is none other than the smoldering and mysteriously sexy Detective Karadec in all his strong-jaw glory.

Sure, Morgan may be the main character of the series, but even with that big brain of hers, she can hardly do it all on her own.

The worth of any show is found in the sum of its parts, and High Potential is made up of a quality cast of characters that never stop delivering intense drama and perfectly timed comedy.

Since the start of the series, Karadec has been beside Morgan for most of her scenes. Between the two characters, they just about set the tone and pace of every episode.

So, it’s no wonder that many viewers, this TV Fanatic included, have come to not only expect Karadec’s presence but also appreciate how he balances Morgan’s rather eccentric nature.

First, no one could have guessed that High Potential would be the hit that it is with viewers, but audiences can’t get enough of this perfectly crafted procedural.

That, in large part, is due to what Daniel Sunjata brings to his character, Adam Karadec. Side note, it’s so weird using Karadec’s first name. It’s like calling the pope Jorge.

Karadec may not be a man of many words, but his presence and steadfast nature can be felt in just about every scene.

Perhaps that is because, without him, Morgan would probably end up messing up a lot of cases.

Don’t get me wrong, because Morgan is the magic sauce that speeds up the solving of every case, but her methods aren’t exactly the most law-abiding.

Take High Potential Season 1 Episode 9, for example. Despite numerous cases since the start of the season, Morgan had to, once again, be reminded not to steal evidence, like Tiana’s phone, because it’s inadmissible.

Karadec may be a ridiculously handsome stick in the mud, but the man knows what he’s talking about.

Still, I’m sure Morgan would have figured out a way around that. In the end, though, sometimes the best ways are by the book.

High Potential Is Trying to Be Subtle, but There Is No Getting Around the Feelings That This Tall Drink of Water Is Developing for the Main Character

It could just be me, but is anyone else dying to see Karadec in anything other than a dress shirt? I’m not even talking about a shirtless scene.

Can we get the man in a T-shirt or even a tank? The show takes place in California, for goodness’ sake.

Then again, the writers are probably saving that for a special occasion, like an undercover episode or something.

In more recent episodes, it’s become clear that the character has started developing feelings for his partner.

Of course, it could easily be that he’s just acknowledging Morgan’s (Kaitlin Olson) value. Long full looks that the other person doesn’t see is how that’s expressed in the real world, right?

Granted, at this point, Karadec is the most stable male relationship Morgan has managed to sustain. Poor Tom and Ludo (Taran Killam) — they never stood a chance.

With High Potential’s Season 1 Finale Right Around the Corner, It’s About Time the Series Gave Fans a Little More Than the Same Brooding Detective

It has to be said that Daniel Sunjata is a truly striking man, and not just because he looks like he could easily lift a person in that classic romance novel way.

For almost thirty years, the man has been in and out of roles for some of the best shows and movies to date. I had completely forgotten that he played the designer, James Holt, in The Devil Wears Prada.

The man has been in everything from Manifest and Happy! to Graceland and The Stand.

Surprisingly, some viewers might be shocked to find out there isn’t a lot of overlap between Sunjata and his character. The two could not be less similar, which just goes to show how talented the actor is.

Karadec is definitely due for a little shaking up, though, as the series has barely touched on the character’s personal life.

With the High Potential Season 1 finale right around the corner, it’s a good time for the ABC series to give audiences a little something to satiate them until the show receives a renewal.

I mean, a steamy scene with Sunjata’s character wouldn’t be the worst thing. The man clearly spends plenty of time in the gym, and that deserves to be acknowledged.
