The first season of the free-to-play platform fighter MultiVersus has officially begun, and data miners have already uncovered voice lines hinting at two unannounced fighters. Players have been finding a lot to enjoy in the game that allows fans to play as famous characters like Batman, Bugs Bunny, Superman, and LeBron James, to name a few. While MultiVersus made headlines at Evo 2022’s tournament, the game’s news content and an ongoing slew of updates are managing to grab the attention of gamers.

The large variety of properties and characters featured in MultiVersus can be staggering. Classic characters like Tom and Jerry can battle characters from newer series like Game of Thrones‘ own Arya Stark. After the shock of seeing such odd matchups wears off, players have been enjoying the title’s unique 2v2 fights, which encourage teamwork more than other popular fighting games. The game’s newest update brings many requested fixes and nerfs of overpowered characters. However, data miners have uncovered some hints for a couple of unannounced fighters hidden in the season one update.

Data miners have combed the massive season one update for MultiVersus and uncovered voice lines that seem to point to two new characters that have yet to be revealed, Beetlejuice and The Wizard of Oz‘s Wicked Witch of the West. As reported by Video Games Chronicle, the leaked information was highlighted by Twitter user AisulMV. While not yet confirmed by MultiVersus‘ developers, some voice lines found in the game’s code have since been removed from the Twitter post. Still, before the dialogue was removed, the lines attributed to Beetlejuice like “I’m melting, MELTING! Oh wait, that’s your line” and “Is someone going to Oz? If so, I missed that memo” which are obviously pointing at the game’s inclusion of the Wicked Witch. Unfortunately, there is no information about a release date for the two characters at the time of this writing.
Beetlejuice And The Wicked Witch Rise Once Again
Before the first season of MultiVersus officially launched on August 15th, developer Player FIrst Games revealed that both Rick and Morty would be the game’s next playable fighters to be brought into the game. After a short delay, Morty is planned to be playable starting on August 23rd. Season One of MultiVersus will also see the release of his uncle Rick Sanchez and the recently announced Black Adam and Gremlins antagonist Stripe at some point in the game’s first season, which is currently set to end around November 15th.
It’s tough not to compare Warner Bros. MultiVersus with Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. games, which both feature popular characters from various beloved franchises. Smash Bros. Ultimate continues to be a fan-favorite party game. However, with new MultiVersus characters being introduced at an exciting rate, plus updates quickly addressing players’ concerns, the Warner Bros. fighter could be here to stay.
