The 90 Day Fiancé Season 9 Weddings Ranked

90 Day Fiancé season 9 is in its dénouement, and there were wedding hits and misses as the couples got hitched. Season 9 has been criticized for being tedious, following the same formulaic tropes as other seasons of 90 Day Fiancé franchise shows before. There has also been talk among fans about Ariela Weinberg and Biniyam Shibre, Bilal Hazziez and Shaeeda Sween, and Jibri and Miona Bell being already married before the show, casting doubt on their stories’ authenticity.

Fans wonder if the lackluster storylines were due to the show being more scripted this season or if the OG 90 Day Fiancé series has lost what made it unique, as each couple seems to follow the same basic plot. From the introductions, to friends and family casting doubts, to drama potentially canceling weddings, viewers always know where they are in the season based on drama that feels increasingly scripted. Despite that, something that usually remains authentic for each couple is their wedding at the end of the season.

The 90 Day Fiancé season 9 weddings were somewhat small in comparison to previous seasons, because there were still some COVID-19 restrictions in place when the show was filmed. However, being intimate does not mean lackluster. Each wedding had its unique charm and gave viewers a lot to discuss, including venues, style, ceremonies, exit interviews, and heartstring tugs.

Kara Bass & Guillermo Rojer

Kara Bass and Guillermo Rojer faced their challenges with Kara’s drinking and control issues. Despite Guillermo hoping for a more charming venue with picturesque, rolling hills, Kara booked a German beer hall on short notice for the ceremony and reception. Kara’s control issues were highlighted when she corrected Guillermo’s pronouncing “achieve” while he read his vows, which gets their wedding a last-place finish. A highlight from Kara and Guillermo’s wedding was the on-point fashion. Kara looked like a bombshell from a bygone era, but as beautiful as she looked on the outside, she has work to do on the inside if she wants her marriage to last.

Emily Bieberly & Kobe Blaise

On the day of their wedding, Emily Bieberly and Kobe Blaise had been hiding a secret from Emily’s parents—her second pregnancy. When Emily’s dad called Kobe his son, fans were brought to tears, especially as they watched Kobe struggle with hiding the truth. Everything else about the wedding was pretty generic, and viewers questioned the venue choice, with many viewers asking if it was a local VFW or public use space.

Yvette Arellano & Mohamed Abdelhamed

Fans were baffled by Yve Arellano and Mohamed Abdelhamed’s relationship this season, especially Mohamed’s emotionally manipulative behavior. But the couple still found their way to the altar. Yve was delighted that she could secure her dream venue, and while the grounds were beautiful, the building may be less tacky in person than it appeared on camera. In a spiritual union ceremony, Yve, Mohamed, and Tharan filled a bottle with sand, representing their new union as a family. Yve is so gentle with her son and has a huge heart, but while her spirituality was embraced in the ceremony, Mohamed’s faith was noticeably absent, leaving him to pray privately with a friend.

Ariela Weinberg & Biniyam Shibre

Franchise alums Ariela and Biniyam have been show staples for a while, and there is rumor that they had already tied the knot in Ethiopia. Regardless, their ceremony combined Jewish tradition with Ethiopian culture, signifying their union. Ariela’s lacy dress was beautifully fitted, but Biniyam’s gold-embossed wardrobe choice was eye-catching, not in a good way. Usually, Ariela has the tragic fashion disasters. Nevertheless, Biniyam’s family seemed happy on screen, and Ariela was likely relieved that their being far away meant she would not have wine thrown at her face on her wedding day.

Thaís Ramone & Patrick Mendes

Even though Thaís Ramone’s father was not happy with her choice of groom, she and Patrick Mendes wed in a stunning venue. Thaís was beautifully elegant, and Patrick’s lack of socks was nowhere near as appalling a wardrobe choice as their Gucci-clad, sunglasses-wearing officiant who kept his hands stuffed in his tracksuit pockets during the ceremony. Patrick and Thaís looked like they could stand on top of a wedding cake, but the seeming nouveau-riche tackiness of their guests made their wedding come across as unbalanced.

Shaeeda Sween & Bilal Hazziez

Shaeeda and Bilal’s living room wedding takes second place for the personalization involved in the ceremony. Not only was Shaeeda’s beautiful gown designed and sewn by Bilal’s sister, but she was also able to have some of her family members attend. Fans are used to seeing family on screens via FaceTime or Zoom, but having family in person for the big day was a special moment. The vows were simple, personalized, and appropriate in Muslim tradition, having the bride and groom agreeing three times each to the union. Even though they were married before Shaeeda arrived, Bilal and Shaeeda’s wedding on the show was simple and beautifully executed, earning it the title of second best.

Jibri & Miona Bell

Jibri and Miona Bell may have been married before in Serbia, but this couple grew on fans throughout the season. Jibri wanted to give Miona the wedding she wanted within their budget, including having a triangular arch (two pieces of wood leaned together) frame the couple as they said their vows. The triangle did add to the photos, to be fair to Miona, and the color scheme was perfect for the location. The distinctive trees in Joshua Tree National Park somehow matched the quirkiness of the couple. Furthermore, having fans’ new favorite grandma as their officiant added a genuinely intimate touch to the small ceremony. Jibri’s parents missing his vows was heartbreaking, but the couple’s wedding takes first in the hearts of fans for not only its breathtaking views but the intimacy of the ceremony and love brought by grandma.
