The Masked Singer Season 8 First Trailer Reveals New Costumes

The Masked Singer season 8 premiere is about a month away, and FOX is getting fans excited with some new costumes in its first trailer for the new season. The network announced the premiere date for season 8 in early June, and fans couldn’t wait for another season of guessing which celebrities are hidden behind the extravagant costumes on the show. The new season will see the return of host Nick Cannon and panelists Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong and Nicole Scherzinger. All five have been on the series since its premiere in January 2019. Since its first airing, The Masked Singer has premiered two seasons a year.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

The Masked Singer season 7 saw some iconic faces, such as reggae singer Shaggy, who was disguised as Space Bunny, and Dreamgirls actress Jennifer Holliday, who belted her heart out inside the Miss Teddy costume. The season also had the biggest scandal The Masked Singer has seen since Sarah Palin’s reveal. News leaked early that former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani had been revealed, receiving quite the reaction from Ken. The panelist stormed off-stage when Rudy was unmasked as Jack in the Box. Fans are hoping the singing competition show will keep politicians off the stage for the new season.

FOX’s The Masked Singer just revealed its first trailer of the season, and fans will be excited to see all the cool costumes the season has to offer. The Masked Singer‘s official Twitter account tweeted out the trailer, teasing that this season may be the grandest of all. A slowed-down rendition of “Pure Imagination” from the 1971 film Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory plays over footage of a golden harp costume, a purple mermaid and what appears to be the second robot costume of the series. This time, the robot seems to conceal the identity of a female contestant, while The Masked Singer season 3’s robot was revealed as rapper Lil Wayne.

Other costumes that flash on the screen are a venus flytrap, a porcupine, a green cat-like creature, a jack-o’-lantern, some kind of rodent, a sarcophagus, a snowflake, a dinosaur in a wedding dress and one last costume that’s hard to make out from the clip. The trailer also teases performances from Nicole and The Masked Singer season 1 contestant Donny Osmond as well as the return of guest panelists Leslie Jordan and Joel McHale. “This is what TV is all about,” Ken exclaims, while clad in a white coat with “Dr. Ken Jeong” written in the top corner. According to the trailer, The Masked Singer season 8 will include “more costumes” and “more surprises than ever.

The new season of The Masked Singer is certainly gearing up to be the most exciting yet. Fans were very disappointed in The Masked Singer for last season’s Rudy controversy and weren’t too pleased with some of the other underwhelming unmaskings. Clearly, the producers have been keeping up with what fans want and are ready to deliver a season that will make up for all their past mishaps. Come September, fans will be in for an excitement-packed and mouth-dropping new season.

The Masked Singer season 8 premieres September 21 at 8 p.m. EDT on FOX.
