In late July, a new review of 1988’s Calico Kills The Cat (K) appeared on a blog with some pretty fab photo manipulations. Somehow, this wasn’t entirely weird considering the album was finally released into the streamable realm last year. But it wasn’t just that. In some other way, the album feels like it transcends a typical lifespan of viability. Maybe because its lyrics are oddly current, in protest, with songs like Cleo Reed’s “Women At War,” for instance.
