Dark synthwave trio Gunship are back with a new single that they’re describing as their “most ferocious track yet” with “Tell Me When the World Stops Ending”. And while it’s definitely melodic in parts, boy does the group dip their toes into the metal and industrial side of things with this one.
Written and released for John Carpenter’s upcoming zombie apocalypse video game Toxic Commando, “Tell Me When the World Stops Ending” is a punchy, synth-laden tune that sounds like it would be the perfect soundtrack to kicking zombies’ asses. Having worked with Carpenter on “Tech Noir” and “Tech Noir 2”, the band said the decision to work with him on this project was simple — “When John Carpenter calls… you answer!”
“We grew up utterly obsessed with John’s films and his iconic soundtrack work. His artistry has been a constant source of inspiration and continues to shape the music we create as GUNSHIP. Having been fortunate enough to collaborate with him on two of our own tracks, saying yes when we were invited to contribute to his video game was an instant ‘HELL YEAH!’”
Gunship even contributed to the game’s release by working on the trailer, which you can also check out below.
