The Mars Volta is now streaming their new single “Vigil” alongside the announcement of their brand new self-titled album due out September 16. Given the three singles we’ve heard, I think it’s probably safe to assume the self-titled won’t be the manic progressive rock of old. Which is fine – the three songs we’ve heard up to this point are total earworms and still retain that classic Mars Volta weirdness.
