Metal is walking into the Grand Ole Opry, and it brought Dee Snider.

SCARECROW is headed to Nashville for the 12th Annual Josie Music Awards on September 20, nominated for Song of the Year – Metal/Alternative Metal for “Twisted,” the single that puts Twisted Sister’s frontman on an independent metal track and dares the Opry to hold it. Founder, songwriter, and lead vocalist John Blaze has called the nod a full-circle moment. The room on September 20 will decide if the circle closes with a trophy.
“Twisted” sits in a brutal little cluster: Sultress, Broken Side, Lost Circus, Dawn Of The Rising, Morningstar, Sugar Virus, Para Bellum, As A Flame. That is not a soft landing. It is the Josies doing what they do—pulling a song out of more than 101,000 submissions and putting it on country music’s most famous stage because the writing and the hit held up.

The weekend is the same map as the rest of the World Star PR class already bound for Music City. Conference on September 19 at Gaylord Opryland. Red carpet 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. on the 20th. Doors 5:15. Seated by 6:45. Show at 7:00. Irene Michaels, Paulino, Ray Ray Star, and Quinn Lemley will be in that building. SCARECROW brings the volume.
A metal nomination at the Opry is the point of this awards show. Independent music does not ask permission to share a stage. “Twisted” already crossed one legend into the record. Nashville is the next room. SCARECROW is coming for it.
