Speed Metal Party 2026: German Speed/Thrash Pioneer Living Death to Perform in Finland for the First Time – A piece of European metal history will be written on Saturday, August 29th, at Tavara-asema in Tampere Finland
Fans of heavier music are in for a rare treat as the Speed Metal Party brings the German speed and thrash metal veteran, LIVING DEATH, to the country. This marks the band’s first-ever visit to Finland in its entire history. A Founding Member of the German Speed/Thrash Scene: Living Death When discussing the roots of European extreme metal, one name inevitably stands out among the pioneers.
Founded in Velbert back in 1980, Living Death is a true fountainhead of German speed/ thrash metal: the band was already formed and released their debut album before their countrymen in Kreator and Destruction managed to put out their first full-length records. Living Death uniquely combined the melodiousness of high-speed speed metal with raw thrash blast, quickly rising to become one of the genre’s most respected influencers.
Releases that cemented their cult status, such as Metal Revolution (1985) and the critically acclaimed Protected from Reality (1987), are cornerstones of metal history. After a long hiatus from touring, these veterans have returned to the stage, led by frontman Thorsten ”Toto” Bergmann, guitarist Reiner Kelch, and bassist Dieter Kelch.
