The saucy, scandalous, and sexy women of Netflix’s The Hunting Wives will continue their high-society sins and scandals as the streamer wraps Season 2.

Based on the page-turner by May Cobb, the series follows fish-out-of-water Sophie O’Neil (Brittany Snow) as she navigates the choppy waters of suburban Texas’s ultra-wealthy social scene, ruled by the enigmatic Margo Banks (Malin Åkerman). The crown jewel of their Christian community of Maple Brook, Margo sets her sights on Sophie, and the two form a relationship that could hardly be called mutually beneficial.

In addition to the cast, all new Maple Brook residents include John Stamos, Dale Dickey, Cam Gigandet, Kim Matula, Alex FitzAlan, and WNBA all-star Angel Reese.

For more on this and everything else, here is what we know about Season 2 so far.

When will The Hunting Wives Season 2 premiere?

There is no release date set yet, but we do know there will be eight episodes in the second season. It can possibly drop either in late 2026 or early 2027. Please check back here for updates.

In May 2026, star Dermot Mulroney revealed on The Tangle podcast that Season 2 wrapped filming and hinted at more to come. “Yes, we have completed Season 2. I’m not certain or not able to tell you yet when that’s coming out,” Mulroney said on the podcast. “And even better news is that Season 3 is in prep. I think they’ve got writers in the room, and they’re cooking up a third season already. And that should begin filming in the fall. So, that’s great news for all the fans of The Hunting Wives.”

The Hunting Wives has not officially been renewed for Season 3.

Season 1 was released on Netflix on July 21, 2025.

Who stars in The Hunting Wives Season 2?

Previously announced returning cast members include Brittany Snow, Malin Akerman, Jaime Ray Newman, Dermot Mulroney, Evan Jonigkeit, and George Ferrier. Along with Karen Rodriguez (Deputy Salazar) and Hunter Emery (Deputy Flynn), they are set to return as series regulars alongside returning guest star Branton Box (Sheriff Johnny).

On December 4, it was announced that two new recurring guest stars will join the Wives in Season 2: Kim Matula will star as Nadia Kelly, and Alex FitzAlan will star as Lincoln Trout. Then, on December 10, it was announced that John Stamos, Dale Dickey, and Cam Gigandet were joining the show in recurring roles.

According to Variety, Stamos is set to play Chase Brylan, while Dickey will play Zelda Moffitt, and Gigandet plays Gentle John Moffitt. Not much is known about their characters or how they will fit into the story.

On January 20, The Hollywood Reporter announced that two-time WNBA all-star Angel Reese has joined the show in a costarring role described as “Trainer Barbie.” Nicknamed “Bayou Barbie,” Chicago Sky player Reese rose to stardom after her performance in the 2023 NCAA women’s basketball championship.

What was Season 1 of The Hunting Wives about?

Sophie moves to an affluent East Texas suburb for her husband Graham’s (Evan Jonigkeit) new job, where she’s quickly taken under the wing of Margo, the glamorous wife of his boss, Jed (Dermot Mulroney). Almost immediately, Sophie becomes entangled in the over-the-top antics of Margo and her inner circle: a world propelled by sass, scandal, sauvignon blanc, and eventually sacrifice.

How did Season 1 of The Hunting Wives end?

Buckle up. It’s a bit of a ride. Warning: The following contains MAJOR spoilers for The Hunting Wives Season 1.

The story reaches its climax when Margo’s affairs with both Callie (Jaime Ray Newman) and Jill’s (Katie Lowes) son, Brad (George Ferrier) become her fatal flaw. When Brad’s girlfriend Abby (Madison Wolfe) threatens to expose her relationship with the teen and reveal Margo’s secret abortion, the seemingly-perfect housewife kills Abby in a desperate attempt to protect herself and the carefully crafted life she has built, while allowing Sophie to become the prime suspect in Abby’s murder by manipulating evidence.

Starr (Chrissy Metz), Abby’s mother, goes to confront Jill with a shotgun after discovering from Brad’s friend Jamie (Chosen Jacobs) that Jill “really had it out for her daughter.” Her body is discovered by Callie and Margo, who go to confront Jill after a night out at the bar. As Jill turns the gun on Margo, Callie shoots her in defense. Evidence then shifts to Jill, and the case is closed, but the emotional fallout remains.

The story comes full circle when Sophie, who was once convicted of driving under the influence and hitting a pedestrian, purposely runs over Margo’s brother Kyle (Michael Aaron Milligan) after he threatens her. The incident mirrors a painful chapter from her past, but this time, Sophie is an active participant in the crime as she throws Kyle’s body into a marsh. In that moment, she accidentally answers his phone and hears Margo’s voice say, “You better not be f**king with Sophie. I told you not to do that.”

Season 1 ends with Starr and Abby dead, Margo all alone after being thrown out by her husband, and Sophie a full-fledged murderer who is left to deal with the repercussions of her choices.

What is The Hunting Wives Season 2 about?

In September, it was announced via X (formerly Twitter) that Season 2 was a go, as Netflix informed fans to “pack their boots and load their guns” to prepare to return to Maple Brook. Then in November, Netflix posted a pic featuring its “big stars” of Margo, Sophie, and Margo’s wig with the caption: “Hold on to your wigs. Season 2 of THE HUNTING WIVES is OFFICIALLY in production!”

The official logline for the show is: “At the start of Season 2, Sophie and Margo are on the outs. But soon enough, old secrets and new foes force them back together. As they play their dangerous games, the question arises. Are they the hunters or the hunted?”

As there is no second book, the second season is a complete mystery. For now.
