- Starz has unveiled episode titles for Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 2.
- We break down what the titles reveal about potential storylines.
Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 2 is less than a month away from arriving and Starz is giving fans better insight into what they can anticipate in the latest chapter of the Outlander prequel with the reveal of episode titles.
Season 2 of Blood of My Blood will feature ten all-new episodes for viewers to dig into as they quench the Droughtlander that kicked off when the flagship show concluded earlier this year. Among the the title lineup are “Remembrance Day,” “The Veil of Time,” “Rabbits Don’t Swim,” “A Portion of My Soul,” “Forgive Me, Father,” “Small Mercies,” “Heart of the Highlands,” “The Dance,” “Another Man’s Shadow,” and “Twelfth Night.”
The titles certainly offer plenty of clues regarding where the story of Season 2 might lead for the parents of Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) whose fates were left in limbo at the end of Season 1. As viewers will recall, Claire’s parents, Henry (Jeremy Irvine) and Julia (Hermione Corfield), were running from Arch Bug (Terence Rae) towards the standing stones at Craigh Na Dun.
Could Season 2’s premiere episode title “Remembrance Day” indicate the direction of Henry’s story? The annual event is recognized by the British Commonwealth as a day to remember the soldiers who fought in World War I. Is this hinting that Henry’s making a time-traveling return back to the post-WWI world? It’s clear that the couple will be separated again after their brief reunion, but only time will tell.
Meanwhile, “The Veil of Time” could reference the path connecting characters through time at the stones, but we won’t begin to imagine what “Rabbits Don’t Swim” is conveying. “A Portion of My Soul” could refer to the connection between Jamie’s parents, Ellen (Harriet Slater) and Brian (Jamie Roy), as fans last saw them witnessing the lighting of the fiery cross, which indicates a call to war.
But what could “Forgive Me, Father” be referencing? The title could hint at Brian’s relationship with his father, Lord Lovat (Tony Curran), or have a more religious leaning, referring to a priest. Does this mean some unforgivable act is set to unfold? It’s possible.
Meanwhile, “Small Mercies” is too vague to pull from, but “Heart of the Highlands” could certainly represent the Scottish backdrop and community at the center of this fan-favorite franchise. Will “The Dance” feature a festive gathering? We’re keeping our fingers crossed!
And “Another Man’s Shadow” raises questions about what couple this could be referring to, but “Twelfth Night” feels like an obvious Shakespeare reference, leading us to wonder if the characters will dabble in some disguises for the finale hour like the characters from the writer’s play of the same name.
Stay tuned and let us know your theories in the comments section below, and don’t miss Blood of My Blood when it returns to Starz this fall.
